The cage is the rib of the filter bag, it's light in weight and easy to be installed and maintained. Quality of cages directly determines the filtering effect and service life of the filter bag.

The bag cage are to fit most baghouse' model. Common cage constructions consist of 10 pcs, 12pcs or 20pcs vertical wires. Standard horizontal ring spacings are 4”, 6” or 8”.

 

Top load cages are available with a T-flange, ring top or other rolled flange tops. For the cage diameters range from 4”, 6'' or 8”, wire thickness ranges are: 9 gauge, 10 gauge and 11 gauge.

 

If height restrictions are a problem, two piece splicing type cages are available. For areas where moisture or acid corrosion, we could provide different materials and coatings.

 

Bottom load cages are constructed with a split collar or split ring top. For cage diameters range from 4” to 6 1/8”, the wire thickness ranges are 9 gauge, 10 gauge and 11 gauge.

 

For more efficient cleaning and air volume strengthen requirement, the venturis are available, with the length from 3” to 6”. Venturis are made in a variety of materials, such as aluminum, carbon steel, galvanized and stainless steel.

Installation

 

Before installing filter bags the tube sheet must be checked to ensure that it is clean, there are no sharp edges and there is no debris that could eventually fall into the filter bags

 

The installation procedure is normally decided on site and is dependant upon the number of personnel being used and the available access. Normally it is wise to work compartment by compartment first fitting all the filter bags.

 

The filter bags fitting is simple via a snap band, no tools are required. The filter bag is lowered into the corresponding tube sheet hole and the top seal is made by forming a kidney shape in the snap band top and then releasing this into the tube sheet hole. The groove in the filter bag should fit tightly into the tube sheet forming a seal.

 

This is repeated until all the filter bags have been fitted.

 

Before lowering the cages into the filter bags boards or heavy cardboard should be placed over the bags to protect the filter bags and prevent them being stepped on. If the bags are stepped on they can loose the seal and cause dust emissions at a later date.

 

During the installation of the cages care should be taken not to damage or bend the cages. No damaged, badly bent or corroded cages should be fitted into the filter bags.

 

After all cages have been fitted, an inspection from the inside of the hoppers must be carried out to ensure that all the bags and cages are the correct dimensions and positions.

 

Application

 

The cage is widely used for purifying dusty air in industries like metallurgy, steel, cement, mechanical, electricity, chemicals, waste incineration, concrete mixing and other conditions of complex industries. 

 

We can make the cage to fit existing dust collectors from any baghouse manufactures such as Gencor, Flexkleen, Wheelabrator.
